The Xinxing River is in the west of Guangdong Province, China, and is a tributary on the right bank of the West River. Its upper course is called the Lezhu River, and it rises at the western foot of Tianlu Shan in the south-east of Xinxing County, Yunfu City. It flows north-west through Hehe Reservoir and Dajiang Town, then turns north-east at Hetou Town and runs parallel to the Guangzhou-Maoming Railway to Lezhu Town, where it turns east. At Dongkou Xu (formerly part of Dongkou Town) in the northern suburbs of Xincheng Town, the county town of Xinxing, it receives the Danan River on its right bank and only then is it called the Xinxing River. The Xinxing River passes Chegang Town and enters Yuncheng District of Yunfu City, flows north-east through Yaogu Town in Yuncheng District and Xinqiao Town in Gaoyao District of Zhaoqing City, and joins the West River at Nan'an Subdistrict in Gaoyao District. Its main stream is 145 kilometres long, with an average gradient of 0.98 per mille and a catchment area of 2,355 square kilometres.

Zhaoqing (Chinese: 肇庆), alternately romanized as Shiuhing, is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong, China. As of the 2020 census, its population was 4,113,594, with 1,553,109 living in the built-up (or metro) area made of Duanzhou, Dinghu and Gaoyao. The prefectural seat—except the Seven Star Crags—is fairly flat, but thickly forested mountains lie just outside its limits. Numerous rice paddies and aquaculture ponds are found on the outskirts of the city. Sihui and the southern districts of the prefecture are considered part of the Pearl River Delta. Formerly one of the most important cities in southern China, Zhaoqing lost its importance during the Qing dynasty and is now primarily known for tourism and as a provincial "college town". Residents from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and the other cities of the Pearl River Delta often visit it for weekend excursions. It is also a growing manufacturing center.<

The Zhaoqing Ancient City Wall (also called the Zhaoqing Song City Wall) is located in Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China. Most of the wall survives intact and is roughly rectangular, wider east to west and narrower north to south, with a perimeter of 2,801 metres, of which the east section is 403.4 metres, the west section 376.9 metres, the south section 992.3 metres and the north section 1,028.6 metres. There are 28 bastions in all and four city gates, east, west, south and north, and the Piyun Tower is built on the northwest wall. It was announced on 19 November 1984 as a cultural relic protection unit of the first batch of Zhaoqing City. In 2001 it was listed in the fifth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.

Xinghu Archway Square, for short Archway Square, also known as Qixingyan Archway Square, is a cultural and sports square on Duanzhou Fifth Road, Duanzhou District, Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province, China. It takes its name from the Qixingyan Archway, a cultural relic protection unit of Zhaoqing, and is one of the component parts of the Zhaoqing Xinghu tourist area, a national 5A-level tourist attraction.
