The Sumida River is a river in Tokyo, Japan, and the widest of the rivers running through central Tokyo. It is one of the tributaries of the Arakawa River, has a total length of 23.5 kilometres, and is a class-one river under the management of the Japanese government. It branches off from the Arakawa River at the New Iwabuchi Floodgate in Kita Ward, Tokyo, and runs south-east before turning south-west at Minami-Senju; along the way it is joined by tributaries including the Shingashi River, the Shakujii River, the Kanda River and the Nihonbashi River, and finally empties into Tokyo Bay. In former times it was also called the Sumidagawa and the Kakudagawa, and the stretch below Azuma Bridge was known as the Okawa in the Edo period. The Sumida River was originally the lowest stretch of the main Arakawa River, and was replaced after the Arakawa Drainage Channel was cut in the Taisho era.

The Shibuya River is a river in Tokyo, Japan, running from the south of Shibuya Station to Tengenji Bridge, with a total length of 2.4 km. The river is called the Shibuya River within Shibuya ward and the Furukawa within Minato ward. The Shibuya River once had many tributaries, but most of them have now been culverted.

Ogasawara Hakushaku Tei is located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and is listed as a Tokyo Metropolitan Government-selected historic building (No. 66).

The bombing of Tokyo, also known as the Tokyo Air Raids, was a series of large-scale strategic bombings of Tokyo, Japan by the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War.
