It is located in the gorge between the Hora Mountains and the Kuruk Mountains, 8 kilometres north of Korla, capital of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. The Peacock River winds through the gorge.
